Monuments are set on a base that is 1ft longer that the top(6in on each side of the top).

A monument definitely gives you the most for the price.
Compared to a flat stone, the monument gives you the ability to add letting to the back. Compared to a slant, you get 4in to 6in more in height for the same price. Compared to a bench there isn’t much of a difference in price or the size.
Because a monument comes with a base, you have the space on each side of the top to add a vase.

Not really. All headstones get hard water get hard water deposits on them. Monuments get just as dirty as other headstones.
