Common questions or concerns about Flat Stones
-
Flat stones do not use a lot of granite to make. It is a singular piece usually no bigger that 4ft. This makes it a cost effective stone for families that want to have a headstone made for their loved ones, with out having to spend a lot of money.
-
If you get a flat headstone it doesn’t have to be set flat in the cement(unless required). You can set the stone 3in-4in in the front, and 5in-6in in the back. This gives the stone a “pillow” look. This is a great option for those that don’t want a completely flat stone.
-
Due to space, cemetery regulations, or the lot/plot the stone is to be placed on, you may be required to get a flat stone. Always double check cemetery regulations before purchasing a headstone.
-
Some cemeteries will allow you to bury a cremation on top of a grave that has someone already in it. In turn they will also allow you to place a single flat stone completely flush with the ground to mark their spot. These types of headstones and burials must be approved by the cemetery before the stone will be produced. This is a great option for families that have lost infants or cemeteries that don’t have available plots/lots next to relatives.
